With the 10th pick (No. 184 overall) in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Florida safety Marcell Harris.
Harris had a slow start with Florida because he was recovering from a knee injury suffered in high school. He had a break-out season for the Gators as a junior in 2016. Harris registered 73 combined tackles, four for a loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, a sack, and scored a touchdown on defense. He did not play during his senior season after suffering a torn Achilles last summer.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-1 and 216-pound Harris had had 16 reps in the bench press. Other measurables for Harris include an arm length of 32 inches and hands that measure 8 5/8 inches.
He has similar physical measurables to 49ers safety Jaquiski Tartt, who signed a two-year extension with the team on Friday.
NFL.com projected Harris to be an undrafted free agent.
ESPN offered the following pre-draft analysis on Harris:
"Harris played sparingly as a reserve safety and contributed on special teams before racking up a team-high 73 tackles in 2016. Unfortunately, he tore his Achilles in July and missed the 2017 season. He's an in-the-box safety who, when healthy, is good enough on special teams to push for a roster spot."
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote the following about Harris within his scouting report:
"Harris has made just nine starts during his career and is coming off one of the more troubling injuries a football player can suffer with a torn Achilles. While the deck is stacked against him, he does have NFL size and he's proven to be a productive special teams contributor while at Florida. Harris isn't a bad football player but his below average speed and recovery from an Achilles tear will make it hard to land a spot."
Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst wrote the following the following about Harris within his scouting report:
"After his junior campaign of 2016, Harris moved towards his senior season as a potential mid-round choice but was sidelined with an Achilles injury. If healthy and back to full speed, he offers possibilities as a strong safety or in a zone system."

49ers sign 6th-round draft pick Jarrett Kingston to 4-yr, $4.16 million rookie deal

The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly signed former USC offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston to his rookie four-year deal. The team made him a sixth-round draft pick, selecting him 215th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. This leaves wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, the team's first-round selection, as the only unsigned 49ers draft pick.
According to OverTheCap.com, Kingston's four-year contract is worth about $4.16 million. This includes a signing bonus of approximately $138,000 and a 2024 salary-cap hit of about $830,000.

Shakel Brown was among several players who participated in a tryout in front of coaches during the San Francisco 49ers' rookie minicamp last week. Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reports that the team was impressed enough with the defensive lineman to sign him.

It's not a shock to anyone who looks back at the past two NFL seasons to contemplate that the San Francisco 49ers' offense has finally stepped out of the shadow cast by the team's ever-imposing defense.
